Frequently asked questions

1. Are you sending me translation jobs directly?

No. We are not a translation agency anymore. Now, we are a platform that helps connect translators, agencies, and companies that need translations. You can create your profile in our Marketplace, and buyers can find and hire you directly.

2. Will I get work for sure if I join the Marketplace?

Joining the Marketplace helps you get seen by companies looking for translators. We can't promise jobs, but the more complete and professional your profile is, the better your chance!

3. Why do Premium Partners get more visibility?

Premium Partners are translators and agencies who have been paying users of Bureau Works for more than three months. They get extra visibility because they have been active on our platform and have a proven record with us.

4. How much does it cost to join the Marketplace?

Nothing! It's completely free to create your profile and be listed in the Marketplace.

5. How do I become a Premium Partner?

To become a Premium Partner, you need to be a paid subscriber to Bureau Works for at least three months. If you want to know more about becoming a subscriber, reach out to our team!

6. Can I still use the Marketplace even if I’m not a Premium Partner?

Yes, of course! Everyone is welcome in the Marketplace. Being a Premium Partner just gives you a little more visibility.

7. What should I do to make my profile stand out?

Make sure your profile is complete! Add your languages, your areas of expertise (like legal, medical, games, etc.), and your experience. A good picture and a short description about you also help a lot!

Your next opportunity could be just one click away! Get started today and let businesses find you.

8. Should I create both a freelancer profile and a company/agency profile?

You absolutely can create multiple profiles, freelancer, agency, company, or even all of them. That said, in practice, cultivating one strong profile tends to be more effective on our platform.

Why?

  • Reputation builds gravity: Testimonials, ratings, project history, and visuals all accumulate on a single profile, boosting its credibility.
  • Premium Badge Limitation: If you're a Bureau Works paid user, you get a Premium badge—but you can only attach it to one profile. Splitting your presence means that badge (and its visibility boost) won't follow you across all accounts.
  • Client Confidence: Buyers often prefer a rich, consistent profile over several sparse ones. It signals focus and reliability.

TL;DR: You can "divide to conquer," but in a trust-based environment like this, a unified and high-quality profile is usually your best ally.

9. What’s the difference between an "Agency" and a "Company" profile?

Great question, especially in the translation and localization world where the lines can blur.

Here’s the distinction:

  • Agency: Refers specifically to Language Service Providers (LSPs) that offer translation/localization services through a team of linguists, PMs, and tech staff. Think of traditional or boutique translation firms.
  • Company: Refers to any other type of business that offers services related to translation/localization—but is not an LSP. This includes:
    • Technology providers (e.g., quality automation platforms)
    • Data providers (e.g., companies offering corpora, AI training data)
    • Consultancies (e.g., UX localization strategy firms)
    • Voiceover/dubbing studios
    • Multimedia localization firms focused on subtitling or video production
    • Crowdsourcing platforms managing user-generated translations
    • Market research firms doing multilingual testing or sentiment analysis

In short: if you sell language services via a team structure = Agency. If you support the localization ecosystem without being an LSP = Company.
