Born in Turin, Italy. Giovanna graduated as a translator and interpreter specialising in technical translation and consecutive, negotiation, remote, and simultaneous interpreting for English, French, and German. She holds proficiency certifications in Spanish and in English from Cambridge University.
She completed her master's degree at Baton Rouge University, with exams in London, focusing on management and translation. For three decades, Giovanna managed Top Service s.a.s., translating and proofreading, overseeing translation services, coordinating a team of over 30 translators, and running an office in Edinburgh for ten years.
She is a sworn translator and consultant for the Court of Cuneo.
During the pandemic, Giovanna has pursued specialised online training in subtitling through UCL and ZOO Digital. As subtitling became a regular task, she became an expert in SDH. She also holds certifications in post-editing (MTPE), quality assurance (QA), project management, annotation, and machine translation quality evaluation (MTQE).
Her diverse professional background includes roles as worldwide sales manager for Technofabric SPA, technical fabrics, European manager for Coatings S.A. Puerto Rico, rubber blankets. and as language lead for a well-known marketing company covered by NDA. Giovanna’s personal passions extend to teaching Irish set dancing and Scottish country dancing.
Alongside her husband, Giovanna established Piedmont’s first Albergo Diffuso—Locanda degli Elfi—which operated successfully from 2002 to 2022, by adding tourism as a primary field of experience. Transitioning into full-time freelancing, Giovanna built a global portfolio in subtitling, MTPE, translation, remote interpreting and language leadership.
A committed lifelong learner, Giovanna volunteers for Open Language Initiative (OLI) and Proz.com as a translator and reviewer and continually expands her linguistic skills, currently exploring Dutch, Swahili, and Scottish Gaelic. She lives in Italy and winters in Spain, balancing work and extensive travel. She also translates essays and environmental books and documentaries.
